2008 Symphonic Band

  1. Needed for Band Camp: May 21-23 sunscreen, water.   You may also bring in your $250 band fee, $30 band booster money for meals at competitions and your 12 or 24 case of water or favorite soda for football games, etc.   THANKS!
  2. Open and Download your instrument piece for “EARTH: CONSTRUCTION IN FOUR MOVEMENTS” Mvt. 1: AIR, Mvt. 2: FIRE (two pages and the longest movement), Mvt. 3: WATER and Mvt. 4: LAND. Don’t assume what part you have. I will meet with Mr. Skaggs on Monday and he will give me “who is playing what part”. Tell your band friends to check out the band page for their music.   5. UPDATE!!! Disney World: We are now board approved to go to Disney World next year in March. First Trip Payment is due 5/29/08 $50. If your band member doesn’t have that in their student trip account, then we need that $50 ASAP. We will leave at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 19 and will be returning Monday, March 23 at 11pm. We are going in March to avoid the snow day problem we had this year. The price and plans to go will be given to you before the end of school so that you can plan accordingly for this trip next year.
  6. Fundraisers and Student Accounts: Email me at vicki.fish@woodford.kyschools.us and I will send you the amount your son or daughter has in his/her account.
  7. Band Fee: We need to plan early for band camp including paying an arranger for the music to fit our instrumentation, hiring a brass and woodwind instructor along with two percussion instructors and two flag instructors. We also need a pit. We cannot compete on an equal basis with other marching bands unless we have a pit. Therefore, last night at the band booster meeting it was decided that $100 of the band fee will be due before the end of school. Financial situations can be taken into account on a case to case basis. The rest of the band fee, $150, will be due the first day of band camp.

Graded Afterschool Rehearsals Continue-Mondays: Jazz Band (not graded); Tuesdays: Winds (all Woodwinds and Brass), and Wednesday: Percussion Practice.
